Sallins GAA Ladies Football
2004 saw the establishment of ladies football in Sallins with the formation of Robert Emmetts Ladies Football Club, an amalgamation of players form Sallins and Raheens. The club started off with just one U.15 team, who went on to win the championship that year and reached the semi-final of the U.16 championship the following year. Today the club has over 100 members is now fielding ten teams form U.9 up to senior.
The senior panel have gone from strength to strength with the girls bringing home silverware 4 years running now. The girls won the league this year and are currently playing in the Junior C championship where they have high hope of taking away the title after narrowly losing out on it last year. At Underage level the club is continually improving and is currently fielding teams from U.9’s up to U.18’s. The U.14 team took away the division 5 title this year. The U.16’s have reached the Division 3 final and are playing this Saturday 10th of September.
The club is proud to have had many of its members represent them at county level over the years at both Senior and Juvenile levels. This year saw Ciara Robotham play with the U.13 development squad and Roisin McConnon play with the U.12 development squad, while Mary Hulgraine represented the club with the senior panel and Amy Gallagher won an All Ireland Medal with the U.16 panel. The club hoping that many more of its players will follow in the girl’s footsteps in the future.
